A vast camp for an estimated 1,000 prisoners. Unlike the other camps mapped, this one includes a hospital, large clubhouse, dog kennels and several types of prison buildings.
It is the best-preserved camp we have mapped. The majority of buildings are still standing and contain a great number of original artefacts. Most of the materials drawn on in the reconstruction of the model Gulag camp in the virtual tour come from the Barabanicha camp.
